Neal Peter (lovingly called ‘Nealu’) age 13, passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2023 after a tragic accident in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. He will be remembered as a vibrant young soul who brought immense joy and enthusiasm to all who knew him.
Neal was born on February 2, 2010, in Silver Spring, MD, to parents Rakesh Peter and Bhavana Rakesh. A beloved son and an energetic, fun, and charismatic teen, Neal was known by his family and friends for his mega-watt smile (that could light up any room!). He was an extraordinary young boy with an insatiable passion for cars, soccer, bubble tea, and travel. These interests helped shape his vibrant personality and brought him countless moments of happiness, including on the soccer field. The talented striker was so proud when his team recently won the Maryland State Cup.
Neal was a rising 8th grader at Julius West. He had a talent for making a joke during a tough time to make everyone around him laugh and feel better. His friends always said they got an ab workout by just laughing at his jokes.
A talented soccer player, Neal spent countless hours with the Laurel Lions soccer team and the hard top of Julius West, chasing after the ball with relentless determination. His passion for the sport was contagious, and he inspired his teammates and friends with his skill, sportsmanship, and unwavering dedication. Whether playing in organized leagues or friendly matches with friends, he always brought his best game.
Beyond the soccer field, Neal had a taste for adventure and loved traveling to new places. He eagerly planned family trips, immersed himself in different cultures and food, and marveled at the wonders of the world. He was full of curiosity and open-mindedness.
Neal found another passion that sparked his imagination – Greek mythology. He would immerse himself in the names of ancient heroes, gods, and goddesses, often retelling their epic stories with contagious enthusiasm. The blend of his two passions, soccer and Greek mythology, inspired him to approach challenges in life with the spirit of a warrior, determined to conquer any obstacle that came his way.
Aside from sports and travel, Neal’s fondness for bubble tea was well-known among his friends. His favorite flavor was coconut, and he often shared recommendations for the best bubble tea shops. He always organized various activities in Rockville Town Square while sipping on bubble tea with his best buds.
Neal is survived by his older sister, Veda; mother, Bhavana; father, Rakesh; Aunts – Sneha and Joanne; Uncles – Rajesh and Anirban; his paternal grandparents, Jyothi and Peter Markose; his maternal grandmother Geetha Vishakanta; his cousins, Hannah, Sophie, Meghna and Rishi; and his crew of best buddies who loved him fiercely. He was pre-deceased by Vishakanta, his maternal grandfather whom he adored.
